Small pets can travel with you in the passenger cabin of an airplane as a carry-on. The airlines’ general requirements include a health certificate, minimum age, certain pet size and carrier size, captivity while on board, and advance reservation, plus a fee paid at the airport.

Most airlines have specific dimension requirements for the carrier; some also have a total weight limit for the pet and carrier. The room under the airplane seat varies depending upon the plane model and the seat assigned, but is generally 9” to 11”, while the width at most is about 23”.


Most Celltei carriers are designed specifically for airline in-cabin travel. Except for the open top designs such as the Mandarin or Lunar designs, up to the medium size, all Celltei carriers meet the airline requirements. The large size meets the requirements of about 70% of the airlines. One particular requirement of some airlines - the length limitation - is shorter than the 20" length of our large size carriers. Please check with the airline before confirming your booking. The following are our standard features:

• Double zipper head with auto-lock device - Our zipper heads have a safety pin to prevent the zipper from sliding, so your pet can’t force his or her way out.
• Interior Support System - Semi-rigid plastic panels are built in to provide structural support to all Celltei® carriers. A pair of detachable roof-support panels allow the carrier to be pressed down without collapsing onto the pet. This proprietary feature makes Celltei® carriers superior for fitting under an airplane seat.
• Security Leash - An interior security leash, designed to be used with a collar or harness, is both a restraining and stablizing device for your pet. So, your pet can lean out of the top window to spot that beauty on the block or get a better view when you go backpacking!
• Water Bottle Holder A built-in holder, made for a bottle with a dispensing tube, gives your pet access to water at will.
• Temperature-Control Compartment - A pocket with netting on one side and a waterproof lining on the other can be used to store an ice pad, heat pad or non-toxic odor-removing pad. Just throw a few extra ice pads in the cooler the next time you sunbathe with your pet.
• Waterproof Floor Padding and Tray Set - Our floor tray includes thin pading, a plastic panel to reinforce the carrier’s base and waterproof tray with 1” rim. The tray is attached to the base with velcro®, and both the the padding and tray are machine washable. For the Heart and Lite series, only thin padding is included.
• Ventilation and Privacy - Celltei® carriers use a patterned mesh or netting mesh to maximize ventilation, and our discrete side curtains offer the privacy owners need to bring their pets wherever they go.
• Car safety - Strap our carrier to your back or passenger seat and your pet rides safely with you. This new feature has been added to all Basic line and will soon be added to all Tote-o-Pet and Pet-on-the-Go carriers.
